Memories of A Hill Country Ranch

The rocks, the stands of live oak, the occasional pine,  the wild grasses studded with bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and other wildflowers and cactus along with many types of cattle and horses are images that live in my mind. I tried to paint my memories of a place without losing myself in detail.

These paintings ranging from 30x30 to 36x36 are part of the collection that will be exhibited in the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art as part of their Spirit of Texas show. Painted while I was in residence at a beautiful ranch near Llano, Texas last April, I decided to spend my time painting many quick plein air "notes" and then attempt to paint my memories using the notes.
