Nancy Tankersley » Richmond Past and Present

This plein air painting was done during the Richmond competition from the island of Belle Isle. I loved the juxtaposition of the modern freeway soaring over the old building from the Civil War era ironworks. The wild roses at the entrance  to the structure were reminders of the humans who worked here and as always, tried to improve their environment.
