This is a painting of Maynard Lowery, master Tilghman Island boatbuilder, sitting in the last catboat the he ever build. Tragically, he was killed in an automobile accident in August of 2008 along with his sister Alma and his dog. Known far and wide for his woooden boats, he was coaxed out of retirement to build this one last boat for Marty Wells and Carol Sargeant, and they graciously gave me numerous photographs that allowed me to paint this post-humous portrait of Maynard.
It was accepted into the 2011 National Juied American Impressionist Society and is now in a private collection.
